Back to the Start
This summer, I am back in Wuhan to see life nowadays here, as the first station, I came to the Huanan seafood market, where the disaster started, and it's still shut down, people just passing by as if nothing happened before.
New location, new name, new start
A poster on the wall of the Huanan Market states that the Market will be relocated to the new Huanan International Agricultural Trade Industrial Park on Hankou North Avenue in Huangpi District, followed by an introduction to the new overall renovation project after the relocation.

An abandoned nucleic acid testing point near the South China Market. The faded posters on it indicate that it has been abandoned for a long time.

Huanan Market in July 2024, the same as 4 years ago, but there is more traffic passing by as if nothing happened.

The Legacy
When the tide recedes, can we still find traces of it?

In metro stations, there is also a machine that sells masks in addition to the normal vending machines.

An abandoned nucleic acid testing booth on Qingnian Road has now been converted into a breakfast shop with a menu hanging on it.

In the tube, most people don't wear masks anymore; some people wear them for sun protection, like the lady wearing a dark blue mask in this image.

A footbridge towards a hospital, the glass guardrails on both sides are printed with details about the medical teams from other provinces that assisted Hubei Province in 2020, including the number of team members and the cities they assisted.

This is the Beijing medical team, with 1217 team members in total and they assist Wuhan and Ezhou.

From left to right, they are the Anhui medical team with 1362 members assisting Wuhan, Shanghai medical team and Ningxia medical team.

The hospital still keeps the fever clinic now though the epidemic is over. Here is the sign that guides patients to the fever clinic.

A sign outside the fever clinic shows the place where to do the PCR test, although that booth has been abandoned. Under that sign is the slogan that says Non-fever clinic patients are not allowed to enter.

New life
When the haze fades away, the city comes alive again, traffic bustling down the streets as if people have forgotten what happened before and welcome their new life. after all, when the sun rises, it's just another day!

People wait in long queues to shop in a newly opened luxury shopping centre.

Traffic jam on Jiefang Avenue, the main avenue of Wuhan city.

Compared with 2020, the entrance of the metro at Wuhan Railway station is back to busy.

Same place but in 2020

The train platform at Wuhan Station is back in action, bustling like it used to.

Outro
The exhibition is over. Thanks for your time!
As the curator of this exhibition, Wuhan is my city. COVID-19 is really a tough time for me and every Wuhan citizen. I'm glad to see everything is back to normal, people have restarted their new life, and the city has become as lively as it used to be. People just suffered a lot during that time; we may get the information from the media, but the media will never tell every individual fate.
We finally won, but we shall never forget that time, for every individual sacrificed, for every individual suffered but unseen, and for you and me!
If you get something to talk about, please use the form on the next page to get in touch.
Thanks sincerely!
